Rooted in purity

What we leave out matters
as much as what we put in

Most agarbatti on the shelf is a bamboo stick dipped in charcoal and synthetic perfume. Ours is not, and that changes what you breathe.

No charcoal

Charcoal is cheap filler that burns black and stings the throat. We bind with halmaddi and jiggat gum instead.

No bamboo core

A bamboo stick smells like burning wood underneath your fragrance. Remove it and only the blend remains.

Rolled by hand

Artisans roll every batch. Machine pressing crushes the resin and dulls the scent.

Nothing plastic

Kraft sleeves, paper tape, soy ink. The whole parcel goes into your compost bin, holder included.

The ritual

Four unhurried minutes

However you keep your practice, the shape of it stays roughly the same.

01

Clear the space

Wipe the altar, open a window. Smoke needs somewhere to go before it can settle.

02

Light and let it catch

Hold the flame for five seconds, then blow it out. A steady ember, never an open flame.

03

Offer and sit

Circle it three times before the deity, place it in the holder, and stay for as long as it burns.

04

Close the loop

Let the ash cool fully, then return it to a plant. It was only ever herbs and resin.

From our customers

Kept on the shelf, reordered monthly

I switched because the old brand left a black film on the puja room wall. Three months in, the wall is clean and the room actually smells of sandalwood instead of smoke.

My father has asthma and had given up on incense entirely. The bambooless sticks are the only ones he can sit through a full aarti with. That is not a small thing in our house.

ARArvind R.CHENNAI · VERIFIED BUYER

The havan cups saved our Sunday. What used to be forty minutes of arranging samagri is now one cup and a matchstick, and the children stay for the whole thing.

Questions

Before you order

Ordinary agarbatti is a thin bamboo stick coated in paste. When it burns you are smelling burnt bamboo alongside the fragrance. Ours is the paste rolled onto itself and dried, so there is no core — only the blend burns.

There is no charcoal or synthetic fragrance oil in any of our products, which removes the two largest irritants. That said, any combustion produces particulate matter — light in a ventilated room and keep a window ajar, especially around infants or anyone with a respiratory condition.

Roughly 40 minutes for incense sticks, 20 to 25 minutes for dhoop cones, and about 15 minutes for a havan cup. Humidity shifts this a little in either direction.

Because the raw material does. Halmaddi resin and flower harvests change with the season, and we do not correct for it with synthetic fixatives. Each sleeve carries its rolling date so you can track what you liked.

Dispatch is within 24 hours on working days, delivered in 3 to 6 days across India. Unopened sleeves can be returned within 14 days. If a parcel arrives crushed or broken, send a photo and we will replace it without asking you to ship anything back.
